Washington Post vs. New York Times: Just What Is An Op-Ed For, Anyway?
Back in June 2007, The New York Times and The Washington Post both gave op-ed space to a Hamas terrorist on the same day.
A few days later, their respective ombudsmen explained what an op-ed is for and why giving the space to the Hamas representative made perfect sense—even though their explanations were diametrically opposed to each other.
Hint: one ombudsman said the Hamas credentials were just as good as fashion editor Robin Givhan.
